Soledad O’Brien to keynote the YWCA LeaderLuncheon

Over 1,000 community members and leaders will celebrate and be inspired at the 29th Annual YWCA LeaderLuncheon Friday, September 29, 2017, from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM at The Grand America Hotel.

Soledad O’Brien, the award winning journalist, documentarian, entrepreneur & philanthropist, will give the keynote address. A champion of diversity, she gives voice to the underserved and disenfranchised through her Emmy-winning reporting and acclaimed documentary series, “Black in America” and “Latino in America.” She has appeared on MSNBC, CNN, Al Jazeera America, and HBO. She is currently the anchor for Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien.

Outstanding Achievement Awards will also be given at the YWCA LeaderLuncheon to five remarkable women who have demonstrated their commitment to advancing the well-being of Utah women and girls, and whose work and achievements exemplify the YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. This year the 2017 Outstanding Achievement Award recipients are:

Education – Lisa Gentile – “Champion of Inclusion and First Female Provost of Westminster College”

Medicine/Health – Carol Osborn – “Dedicated to Women’s Health Worldwide and Founder of Evolutionary Healthcare”

Business – Lorena Riffo-Jenson – “Former chair of the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Director of Government Contracts, Molina Healthcare of Utah”

Community Services – Joan Smith – “Social Justice Pioneer and NCCJ (now Inclusion Center) Founder”

YWCA Heart and Soul Award – Paula Green Johnson -“Philanthropic Leader and Dedicated Community Volunteer”
