Sen. Mike Lee 5th ‘Poorest’ Senator

According to a new analysis, Sen. Mike Lee is the near the bottom of the Senate in terms of personal wealth.
The Center for Responsive Politics broke down financial disclosure forms and found that Lee’s net worth is around $111,000, ranking him 95th in that body.

As for Utah’s other members of Congress:

  • Sen. Orrin Hatch ranks 49th in the Senate with a personal net worth between $1.4 million and $4.2 million.
  • Rep. Rob Bishop is toward the lower end in the House, with a net worth betwen $16,000 and $65,000 ranking him 393rd.
  • Rep. Chris Stewart‘s net worth between $266,000 and $565,000 puts him at #290 in the House.
  • Rep. Jason Chaffetz‘s net worth is somewhere betwen $140,000 and $1.4 million, ranking him #230.
  • Retiring Rep. Jim Matheson is the wealthiest member of Utah’s House delegation. His net worth is between $1 million and $2.5 million, ranking him #157.

The study also found that half of all members of Congress are millionaires, with an average net worth just over $1 million.
