Rep. Jon Cox is one of the newest members of the Utah Legislature after being appointed to fill the seat vacated by his distant cousin Spencer Cox who became Utah’s new Lt. Governor.
Cox says his experience as a Sanpete County Commissioner prepared him for the job.
“It’s hard to come in to a session after being appointed in November,” said Cox. “Some of these issues we have dealt with on a county level, but some I wasn’t, so it’s taxing to get up to speed on those.”
Cox also took a good-natured swipe at his cousin who filled the seat before him.
“People keep asking me how I’m doing. I say ‘If Spencer can do it, it can’t be that difficult.”
