  • 1931 – The George Washington Bridge linking New York and New Jersey opens.
  • 1938 – Germany annexes the Sudetenland.
  • 1939 – German troops occupy Warsaw.
  • 1957 – First appearance of In God we trust on U.S. paper currency.
