Poll shows McAdams with a 6-point lead over Love

A new poll from KUTV and Dixie Strategies gives Democrat Ben McAdams a 6-point lead over Republican Mia Love in their hotly contested 4th Congressional District race.

The poll of 936 likely voters gave McAdams 49.51% to Love’s 43.05%. 7.44% were undecided.

This is the first time an independent survey has given McAdams a lead in this race. The last two surveys had the race tied. A New York Times poll put the race at 45% for Love and 45% for McAdams, while a Hinckley Institute of Politics survey gave each candidate 46%.

The FiveThirtyEight.com projection for the race shows the contest is a dead heat, giving both Love and McAdams a 50% chance of winning. That number is astonishing as the website lists the 4th District with a 20-point GOP advantage.

The poll also gave Republican Mitt Romney a 15-point lead over Democrat Jenny Wilson in their U.S. Senate matchup.
