Niederhauser on the Pace of the 2014 Session (Video)

Senate President Wayne Niederhauser (R-Sandy) says the 2014 session was, for all intents and purposes, a rousing success.

He says the focus on the budget during the first week of the session helped the process immensely by slowing down the pace of other legislation, despite the fact that a record number of bills were introduced during the 45-day session.

“We were hoping we would pass fewer bills,” says Niederhauser. “As we focus more on other things, we will get fewer bills introduced. As we squeeze things down, there will be less need for staff to draft more bills and lawmakers will have to prioritize better.”
