After an extensive national search, The Road Home, a nonprofit provider of emergency shelter, housing and other homelessness services in Salt Lake County, today announced that its board of trustees has selected Michelle Flynn to serve as the new executive director.
“The board is excited to have Michelle Flynn lead The Road Home into the future,” said Greg Johnson, the board president of The Road Home. “Michelle’s innovative and strong leadership skills paired with her valuable government and nonprofit partner relationships will strengthen The Road Home’s role and standing in the community, and her combination of experience, knowledge and passion make her an ideal leader to implement The Road Home’s vision in the years to come.”
Flynn, currently serving as The Road Home’s interim executive director, will immediately step into the permanent position. As executive director, Flynn will lead The Road Home through its next phase of growth and oversee all strategic planning efforts and agency programs.

Flynn has 30 years of local, state and national experience in homelessness, human services, affordable housing and community development initiatives. She served as The Road Home’s associate executive director for the past 15 years of her 25-year history with the organization, where she provided leadership to all aspects of the agency’s operation, was instrumental in the recent statewide system change and spearheaded numerous innovative services and programs. Flynn has an extensive background in fundraising, public speaking and communications and program development, and her decades of experience with The Road Home will bring stability during this time of change.
“I am dedicated to working in collaboration with our program participants, partners and stakeholders to ensure our programs are leading to community level outcomes that result in continuing reductions in the number of people experiencing homelessness. We must ensure that everyone who is experiencing homelessness gets help. The Road Home staff is exceptional. We will never give up,” said Flynn.
