Envision Utah and education and business leaders talk teacher compensation in webinar

Join Envision Utah on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 3:30 p.m. for a discussion with Derek Miller, President & CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber, and Dr. Sydnee Dickson, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, for a deep dive into the most important things we can do to support teachers and improve education in Utah.

Last year, Envision Utah brought together a group of stakeholders from education, business, and policy to establish the Vision for Teacher Excellence, a comprehensive guide with recommendations for changes to teacher compensation and other aspects of the profession.

One year later, the world of education has changed, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic and increased focus on racial disparities and unfairness. Thousands of Utah students now attend school online or participate in hybrid learning models. Schools, educators, and policy-makers have a renewed focus on how they can serve at-risk students.

All these changes have only underscored the importance of implementing the Vision for Teacher Excellence. These events are likely to make Utah’s teacher shortage even worse and have heightened the need for capable teachers in all classrooms.

2020 has shaken the education world. Join Envision Utah to talk about a bright future for every student.
