SL Chamber commends appointment of Senator Dan Hemmert

Derek Miller, president and CEO of Salt Lake Chamber and Downtown Alliance, today issued the following statement lauding the appointment of Senator Dan Hemmert to lead the Governor’s Office of Economic Development:

“Utah’s economic future is bright as we enter a new decade with unlimited possibilities, and the appointment of Senator Dan Hemmert to lead GOED will continue a legacy of strong leadership in an organization that will support and sustain our continued economic growth.

Governor-Elect Spencer Cox’s appointment of Senator Hemmert demonstrates a commitment to continued economic opportunity and will ensure that the state’s emphasis and advocacy continues as one of its highest priorities.

“Dan Hemmert is more than the current Majority Whip in the Utah State Senate, he is an entrepreneur and business leader who understands the power of the private sector to promote prosperity in the community and provide opportunity for individuals. He knows what it’s like to be an owner, investor, and contributor to our state’s economic foundation. He will be an asset to attracting business, jobs, and tourism to our state. It has been an honor to work closely with previous GOED directors Jason Perry, Spencer Eccles and Val Hale, and I am confident Dan will continue the leadership that distinguishes this important office..

“Along with the Salt Lake Chamber and Downtown Alliance, I pledge my support to work seamlessly with Senator Hemmert as we inaugurate a new Governor in the new year. Our commitment to growing the state’s economy and keeping Utah as one of the most attractive business climates in the world remains inviolable. As the voice of business we will do everything we can to support Senator Hemmert and GOED, as their success will redound to benefit us all.

“Congratulations Dan and thank you for your willingness to lead and serve in these important times.”
