Dale Renlund, Apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, released a video on December 7th discussing sacred temples reopening. He spoke specifically and directly about how church members should act towards others. “As members, as families and as a church, we will be judged by how we treat the vulnerable and disadvantaged in our societies.”
“The Savior taught that the second great commandment, after loving God, was ‘Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.’ As it relates to this pandemic, especially in temples, that means social distancing, wearing a mask and not gathering in large groups. These steps demonstrate our love for others and provide us a measure of protection. Wearing a face covering is a sign of Christlike love for our brothers and sisters.”
Elder Renlund’s call for wearing face covers to show love to one another is the next in a series of such requests from the LDS Church, beginning March 4th, then May 6, May 7, May 19, June 24, July 10, Oct 3-4, and Nov 7.
