1773 – Boston Tea Party

1775 – Jane Austen is born

1844 – Fanny Garrison Villard is born. She became a suffragist and philanthropist, providing funds for Barnard College, Radcliffe College and Hampton Institute.

1901 – Margaret Mead is born. She goes on to become a renowned cultural anthropologist, author and lecturer

1944 – Battle of the Bulge begins 

1960 – Two airplanes collide over New York City, killing 134 people in the planes and on the ground.
