United Utah Party announces new leadership

Richard Davis, the Chair of the United Utah Party since its creation in 2017, is stepping down as party chair at the end of the year. He will be succeeded by Hillary Stirling, who is currently serving as United Utah Party Vice Chair. The new United Utah Party Vice Chair will be Jim Bennett, who is currently serving as the party’s communications director.

“I have watched and participated in the emergence of this new party in Utah,” Davis said. ” Over the past 43 months, this party has gone from a news conference attended by a couple dozen people to a party that is winning the votes of tens of thousands of Utahns across the state. This year, the party’s 19 House candidates averaged 14 percent of the vote, which is not typical for a third party. Under this new leadership, the UUP will go to greater heights.”

Incoming Party Chair Hillary Stirling had nothing but praise for her predecessor.

“This party would not exist if not for the tireless efforts of Richard Davis,” Stirling said. “”We are grateful for his personal sacrifices, leadership, and vision, and are also grateful that he will continue to be involved in party efforts going forward.”

These changes are in accordance with the United Utah Party Constitution, which states that the Vice Chair automatically becomes Chair when the Chair position is vacant. Jim Bennett was appointed Vice Chair by the United Utah Party Executive Committee. These changes will all be effective January 1, 2021.
