The 2014 Attorney General’s Election Was Almost One for the Record Books

Charles Stormont didn't have the worst showing by a Democratic Attorney General candidate since his party last held the office, but he was close.

The official canvass shows Stormont garnered just 26.97% of the vote in 2014. That's the second-worst total percentage wise by a Democrat since 1996.

The worst? That was Jean Welch Hill in 2008, who pulled in just 26.6% of the vote.

History will look more favorably on Stormont when it comes to margin of victory for the Republican. He lost to Reyes by 36.09%, which is the third-biggest gap in the last 5 elections. Again, Jean Welch Hill is the record holder in that column, losing to Mark Shurtleff by nearly 43% in 2008.
