Utah is Less Dependent on Federal Funding Than a Majority of States

A new study says Utah is the 15th least-dependent state on federal funding.

A Wallet Hub survey says Utah only gets back $0.66 for every dollar in taxes it sends to the federal government. The study also concludes the Beehive State only gets 29% of it's annual budget from the federal government, putting the state at #16 in the rankings.

Utah would have been ranked as less-dependent on the federal government, but the number of federal employees in the state is relatively high compared to other states, probably because of Hill Air Force Base.

Utah is an anomaly in the overall trends found in the study as Republican states tend to be more dependent on the feds than Democratic ones.
