Appearing on Meet the Press, Sen. Mike Lee tells host David Gregory that there are 46 Senators who are ready to defund the Affordable Care Act.
Lee notes all 45 Republicans in the Senate previously voted to defund Obamacare, and that coalition will add a 46th member with the addition of Republican Jeff Chiesa from New Jersey.
Lee was referring to a vote on an amendment proposed by Ted Cruz in March to the continuing resolution passed at that point, which attracted no Democratic support and failed; the full continuing resolution was then passed with the support of 20 Republican senators.
Lee was optimistic that “a few Senate Democrats, particularly those from red states who are up for election this year” will join Republicans in the vote.
