LD 58 is comprised of parts of Sanpete and Juab Counties. Owens secured the nomination with 53% of the vote – roughly 29 of 55 possible votes cast. His name will be sent to Governor Herbert for the Governor’s approval, and Representative-elect Owens will assume responsibilities immediately following. The election, which went into 2 rounds of balloting, was held at Snow College in Ephraim during a special caucus. Fifty-five delegates were in attendance, as well as family and staff of the candidates. Utah Republican Party Chairman James Evans presided over the election and issued the following statement:
“Once again, the caucus system has proven successful in allowing the voice of the people to be heard. I look forward to working with Representative-Elect Owens.”
