UTGOP Executive Director Julian Babbitt Resigning

The Utah Republican Party continued its 2016 election cycle preparations at last Saturday's State Organizing Convention by electing new officers and enacting the necessary rule changes that will allow the Party to have Republicans on the ballot next year.

In the midst of these preparations, the Party will also be hiring a new Executive Director, as Julian Babbitt has accepted an offer for a new position in Orange County, California.

"Having helped steer the Party through two conventions, a successful 2014 general election cycle, and valuable technological and data improvements, I felt this was the best time to transition and move my wife and I back to California, something we had planned to do for some time," said Babbitt. "I love the great state of Utah and am honored to have played a role in our Party's success over the last election cycle."

Babbitt has been hired as the Executive Director of the Orange County Republican Party, where he will oversee the Party's operations and work to elect Republicans at the county level.

Chairman James Evans said, "We will truly miss Julian, but this is a natural time for executive directors to transition into new opportunities, right in between the Party organizing convention and the start of the new election cycle. I wish the best for Julian and his family as they return to their California roots and am confident that we are well positioned for success as a result of his efforts and dedication to the Party."

The Party will begin conducting interviews for the executive director position next week. All interested parties should e-mail their resumes to [email protected] or call the office at (801) 533-9777 for more information.
