Lee to Join Rubio, Cruz in S.C.

Mike Lee heads to South Carolina Thursday, where he’ll campaign with Marco Rubio and eat BBQ with Ted Cruz. The two GOP presidential candidates are among Lee’s closest friends and allies in the Senate.

Reports PJ Media:

The conservative senator who has stood with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on many of his bills and upper-chamber maneuvers will campaign with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) on Thursday.

But he’ll also hit a restaurant with Cruz later in the day.

At one point in the campaign, Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) faced the prospect of three of his closest allies and friends running for president: Rubio, Cruz and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.).

In November, PJM asked Lee at the National Press Club Book Fair, where he was promoting his book Our Lost Constitution, which senator he picked for president.

“They are all fantastic, they all three support the REINS Act. In fact, Rand Paul is the lead sponsor of the REINS Act in the Senate. I could support any one of them if they became president,” he said, referencing the bill to require congressional approval for the implementation of major rules and regulations.

Asked when he will make an endorsement, Lee said, “We’ll see.”

The Rubio campaign just announced that Lee will come to a Greenville, S.C., rally with Rubio and Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) on Thursday. He’ll be speaking that day at the Conservative Review convention.

Lee’s re-election campaign said the Utah senator will join Cruz at a barbecue joint in Easley, S.C., on Thursday, as well.
