Michael O. Leavitt to Keynote 2013 ACG Intermountain Growth Conference & Capital Connection

ACG Utah today announced that Michael O. Leavitt, current Chairman of Leavitt Partners, a firm specializing in the areas of health and food safety, will keynote the 2013 ACG Utah Intermountain Growth Conference at the Grand America Hotel on Thursday March 14, 2013 in Salt Lake City. Leavitt is former three-term governor of Utah, Secretary of Health and Human Services, and head of the Environmental Protection Agency.

This conference draws private equity groups from across the country who desire to network with growth-oriented middle-market businesses and the intermediaries in Utah, Idaho and Northern Nevada. For nearly a decade, this conference has proven successful at building lasting relationships between lenders representing billions of dollars in equity and growing Intermountain businesses.

“The 2013 ACG Intermountain Growth Conference & Capital Connection is the premier venue for mid-market businesses to establish and build connections with leading private equity firms, investment banks and lenders,” said Mark Lehman, president of ACG Utah and shareholder of Parsons Behle & Latimer. “With Utah’s rapidly expanding economy, growing mid-market business and networking relationships is a top priority in the Intermountain region. Governor Leavitt will offer attendees a unique insight into issues that impact growth.”

This year’s conference will be held in conjunction with the 5th Annual ACG Western Ski & Board Conference at Snowbird, Utah on Friday, March 15, and Saturday March 16.

Panels will include the following:

·         The Grass is Greener

Many middle market businesses overcome the challenges that emerging growth companies face, only to realize the grass is not greener on the other side of the hill. Established businesses encounter different, more complex challenges. This panel will discuss the tools and strategies that an organization can deploy to capture organic growth.

·         Mergers & Acquisitions Panel

Middle Market Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) activity continued to pick up steam during 2012, with deal activity and valuations hitting three-year highs. Private equity funds, strategic buyers and lenders are all back in the game. Will the good times continue in 2013? Panel members will discuss the current state of M&A and the outlook for 2013, including where we are in the cycle, how to keep a deal from cratering during due diligence, and the impact of income tax changes.

·         Healthcare Panel

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka “Obamacare” has turned the healthcare industry upside down. With the US Supreme Court upholding the individual mandate and several major components of the ACA, employers and health insurers are scrambling to understand this complex legislation and analyze its effects on businesses and employees in 2013 and 2014. The panel will discuss the implications of the law, how to achieve compliance, and planning for the future of healthcare benefits.

·         Cloud Computing

Cloud computing provides tremendous opportunities for businesses and has moved from an opportunity to an imperative to meet competition. However, cloud computing entrusts third parties with your data, software and as a practical matter the very foundation of your business. This panel will discuss what you need to know and take control of as you begin moving IT resources to the cloud.
