Governor Gary R. Herbert’s deputy chief of staff, communications director and spokesperson, Ally Isom, will step down this Friday. Isom has been with the Governor’s Office for three years, having previously served as deputy director of the Dept. of Community and Culture and government affairs director for the Dept. of Workforce Services.
“We are going to miss Ally. She is one of the most competent individuals that I have ever met,” said Governor Herbert. “She is a unique talent and I hope she will stay involved in the public sector, one way or another.”
“It’s a unique honor to serve with such a deeply committed Governor. No one works harder, but the demands of 24/7 media are taxing,” Isom said. “My family has been incredibly supportive while I’ve been in a post that is full-time-plus. We are looking forward to spending more time with each other and finding new opportunities to make a meaningful difference.”
As the deputy chief of staff, Isom has been a key advisor to the Governor on critical issues and decisions. Additionally, she has overseen the Governor’s strategic communications efforts, including media relations, social media, constituent services, speechwriting and correspondence. She has also been a liaison to all state agencies on policy and communication matters, providing oversight and coordination on enterprise level issues and emergency response.
A search for Isom’s replacement is underway.
