Enid Mickelsen Named Chairman of the RNC Convention Site Selection Committee

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus today named National Committeewoman and former Congresswoman Enid Mickelsen Chairman of the 2016 Republican National Convention Site Selection Committee.

“Selecting the right city for our 2016 Convention is an important decision that must be made carefully and methodically. I’m confident Enid Mickelsen is the right person to lead the Site Selection Committee in helping the RNC make that decision,” said Chairman Priebus.

“Enid understands the many considerations that go into selecting the right city. She will draw upon her years of leadership and service to our party and country as she and the committee review the many great options.

“The convention will be our chance to formally introduce our 2016 nominee to the country, to conduct important party business, and to share our party’s message of freedom and opportunity. I look forward to the many conversations in the months ahead to find the best place for this major event.”

“I’m honored to serve as Chairman of the Site Selection Committee,” said Mickelsen. “I can’t wait to get to work and to explore our options. Ultimately, I know we will find a host city that will make the 2016 convention an exciting time for all involved and a memorable event along our party’s road to the White House.”

Members of the Site Selection Committee will be elected this Friday, January 24 at the RNC Winter Meeting in Washington, DC. In accordance with RNC Rule 10(a)(4), members from each of the four regions—Western, Midwestern, Northeastern, and Southern—will elect two members and an alternate to represent their regions on the committee.

The Site Selection Committee is tasked with investigating potential sites for the next national convention and recommending a site to the RNC for selection.
