Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy is pleased to announce its 2018-2019 Ambassador Price & Marcia Price World Affairs Lecture Series, hosted in partnership with Westminster College.
UCCD began this lecture series in 2004 and has hosted more than 80 lectures during that time. The lecture series is designed to inform attendees about current international diplomacy topics that have an impact on Utah and creates dialogue to foster a globally savvy community.
This year’s season features many elements the World Affairs Lecture Series is known for: quality guest speakers who are experts in their field of studies, engaging questions and answers at the end of each lectures, non-partisan perspective of each issue, and an array of diplomacy topics that include skateboarding diplomacy, the influence of social media, women’s rights regarding national security, diplomacy within the United States, and the value of Muslims in America.

Presented by Mr. Franklin Keel, former Regional Director at the Bureau of Indian Affairs
Mr. Franklin Keel speaks to his personal career experience administering the unique set of U.S. laws applying to the most diverse ethnic group in this country – American Indians – with cultural and historical sensitivity in today’s America.

Ambassador Gina Abercrombie-Winstanley will explore the continuum from the first black consuls appointed after the Civil War to the first African American female ambassador to her personal experience of leading a diplomatic mission and surviving a terrorist attack in Saudi Arabia.

Presented by Dr. Oscar Schofield, Distinguished Professor & Department Chair, Department of Marine & Coastal Sciences at Rutgers University
Dr. Oscar Schofield will review plans and strategies for developing a global observing system ranging from deep oceans to melting polar regions to coastal waters and its diplomatic challenges.
Tuesday, April 2, 2019: Muslims for American Progress: An Evidence-Based Portrait of American Muslims
Presented by Ms. Dalia Mogahed, Director of Research, Institute for Social Policy and Understanding
Ms. Dalia Mogahed will examine the finding in the Muslim for American Progress study pairing human stories with hard facts and quantifies the contributions of Muslims in the state of Michigan in eight areas.
