The George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home won the prestigious 2019 Gold – Excellence in Quality Award, the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) announced earlier this month.
The home, which is overseen by the Utah Department of Veterans & Military Affairs and managed by Avalon Healthcare (Team Ogden), was one of five long term and post-acute care providers to earn the distinction, which is the highest level of recognition a facility can receive.
“I congratulate the staff, administrators and team at the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home on this honor,” said Gov. Gary R. Herbert. “I would like to thank and commend them for their dedication to serving members of our Armed Forces and their families with great respect, distinction and diligence.”
“These recipients are role models for our sector, and because of their years of hard work, dedication and passion, they are improving and will continue to improve lives every day. This recognition is more than well deserved,” said AHCA/NCAL President and CEO Mark Parkinson.
The Gold – Excellence in Quality Award recognizes facilities that demonstrate superior results in leadership, strategic planning, customer and workforce focus, and operations and knowledge management.
Team Ogden is one of five recipients of this year’s award and is one of just 38 facilities nationwide ever to receive the recognition. According to Avalon Healthcare, there were more than 1,100 facilities nominated for a 2019 award. Additionally, the Ogden facility is one of four homes dedicated to serving veterans ever to receive this distinction. The George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home previously won the Silver – Achievement in Quality Award in 2016.
