Stewart votes against continuing resolution

Congressional News 01

Congressman Stewart votes “NO” on H.R. 4378, making continuing appropriations for fiscal year 2020.

This short-term continuing resolution (CR) provides funding only through November 21st, serving as a quick fix to fund the federal government. Following the vote, Rep. Stewart released the following statement:

“Continuing resolutions are an irresponsible way to govern. Prolonging the work necessary to properly fund the government not only contributes to our nation’s reckless spending, but it impairs our national defense. The American people sent us here to govern—not to ‘kick the can down the road.’ The Senate failed to pass their funding bills and it is not the House’s responsibility to bail them out. We have done our work, now it’s up to the Senate to do theirs.” – Rep. Chris Stewart
