The Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce announces the departure of Andy Pierucci and the hiring of Nic Dunn as the new Director of Public Policy and Business Development. Pierucci is taking a job with aerospace and defense company Northrop Grumman. His last day at the Chamber is January 15th.

“Andy has positively facilitated the Utah Valley Chamber's arrival on the Utah policy scene; I wish him the very best and am excited to have Nic Dunn join our team. Nic is an outstanding addition to the Chamber and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our policy engagement and communications efforts,” said Rona Rahlf, Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce President and CEO.

Dunn is a public policy and strategic communications professional with more than seven years of experience working in state and regional government. Most recently, Dunn served as Senior Policy Advisor to Salt Lake County Councilwoman Aimee Winder Newton. In previous positions, he worked as the Public Information Officer for the Utah Department of Workforce Services, and as a speechwriter for Governor Gary R. Herbert.

Dunn is a Nevadan by birth but a Utahn by choice. After completing dual bachelor's degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science at the University of Nevada, Reno, Dunn moved to Salt Lake City and earned a Masters degree in Public Policy from the University of Utah. A fervent champion of free enterprise as the best vehicle for economic opportunity and human flourishing, Dunn has spent his career working to reduce government waste, supporting policies that empower businesses, families, and individuals to thrive, and striving to improve the state of public discourse.

“The Utah Valley Chamber is perfectly positioned to guide business friendly policy initiatives for Utah County and the State of Utah. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had at the Chamber and am confident that Nic will take the Chamber’s policy leadership to new heights,” says Pierucci.

As the director of public policy and business development, Dunn will guide strategic initiatives for county-wide public policy advocacy and marketing and sales strategies to support member retention and acquisition. Dunn starts January 21, 2020.

"Strong communities and a strong state depend on a vibrant business community," Dunn says. "As an anchor of growth and economic innovation, the Utah Valley region is a vital driver of our state economy. I'm excited to be part of the Chamber's role as a leader in county and state issues, ensuring our businesses, families, and communities thrive, “ says Dunn.
