Moving to the Orange – Moderate Risk level outlined in the Utah Leads Together plan allows for smart re-engagement between consumers and businesses. To ensure companies have the information they need to reactivate, fact sheets and targeted actions have been taken around personal protective equipment (PPE), COVID-19 business compliance information, phased business guidelines, protecting high-risk individuals, screening and testing employees, as well as other state resources.
“It is important to recognize the collective achievement Utah has made in traversing the urgent phase of the pandemic,” said Derek Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber and Chair of the Utah Economic Task Force. “As we move forward in economic stabilization our collective effort remains vital so businesses can stay safe to stay open. The Economic Response Task Force has shared with businesses a collection of documents, resources and programs to support industries and individuals as they venture back into business. We believe it is critical to get this phase right so Utah can get back to work.”
The state launched a strategic initiative around PPE to promote and maintain COVID-19 compliance standards. For small businesses requiring an initial start up supply of PPE for their employees, the state has made available a limited supply free of charge by submitting a request here. For larger businesses, a list of Utah PPE vendors can be found at https://coronavirus.utah.gov/
“As we transition from red to orange, our goal is to protect Utahns and provide information, answer questions, and help employers and employees implement state guidelines,” said Miller. “We want relevant and life-saving information available everywhere and easy to access.”
As employees return to work it is strongly recommended that they self screen before leaving home and then be screened by employers at the start of their shifts. More information regarding this can be found in the screening and testing section of coronavirus.utah.gov, and the “Healthy Together” app is the recommended tool to assess symptoms and schedule testing, if needed. The app can be downloaded from the Apple and Google stores.
While employers, employees and consumers move to moderate risk, it is critical to remember that high-risk individuals remain under red or high risk guidance. Accordingly, they should continue to limit travel, wear masks and telework where available.
