Westminster begins Fall wemester with hybrid classes

Fall 2020 Semester classes at Westminster College began today. Courses are being delivered as a combination of in-person and remote instruction due to the coronavirus pandemic. The college has carefully developed protocols in line with CDC recommendations to ensure a safe and healthy campus environment for all students, faculty and staff.

The Fall Semester calendar was reorganized to reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus: Fall break has been removed, instruction will be remote after Thanksgiving and the semester will end earlier in December. Classrooms are reconfigured for distancing, and face coverings are required in all indoor spaces and when physical distancing is not possible in outdoor spaces. All safety measures and protocols are available on Westminster’s coronavirus webpage.

Westminster welcomed 300 first-year and transfer students to its community this week. New students traveled from 26 states and five countries to attend Westminster. Approximately 18% are the first in their family to attend college. Westminster is a First-Forward institution — a national recognition program acknowledging higher education institutions for their commitment to first-generation student success.

With more students, faculty and staff back on campus, the college asks the general public to refrain from entering Westminster, a private not-for-profit college. Campus spaces and buildings are closed to the general public. We ask that walkers, bikers and families who frequent Westminster’s beautiful pathways reroute their activities to public spaces. Contractors and visitors must follow Westminster COVID-19 guidelines when on campus. As a central landmark in Sugar House, Westminster values its neighborhood connections and looks forward to sharing our vibrant campus with the community in the future.

The Office of Admissions continues to welcome prospective graduate and undergraduate students and families to campus, by appointment only. Admissions staff is also offering virtual appointments and tours for prospective students.
