This is the first year that Better Utah Institute and League of Women Voters of Utah have teamed up to host legislative debates. For the past five years, Better Utah Institute has co-hosted debates for the Utah Legislature, Salt Lake City Mayor, State School Board, and the 3rd Congressional District special election in 2017. The League of Women Voters of Utah has hosted many debates and panels over the years.

While Better Utah Institute is the logistics organizer for the debates, all matters relating to format, substance, and moderation of the debate are controlled exclusively by the League of Women Voters.
