SL Chamber congratulates Cox, Henderson on their inauguration

Derek Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber and Downtown Alliance, congratulated Spencer Cox and Deidre Henderson upon their inauguration today as Utah’s new Governor and Lt. Governor, and said the Chamber is eager to work with the new administration on behalf of businesses, a strong economy, and the individuals and families who depend on them.

“We congratulate Governor Spencer Cox and Lt. Governor Deidre Henderson on the occasion of their inauguration to lead our state into what we believe will be a bright and prosperous future,” said Miller. “We recognize them for championing Utah’s strengths and committing to be service minded with deep respect for Utah’s values—a rich legacy that has blessed Utah from its inception.”

Miller said, “We look forward to working with the new administration to fight as a voice of employees, entrepreneurs, businesses and all Utahns working for a brighter tomorrow. This will take all of our collective effort to continue overcoming the challenges the pandemic has created for individuals, families, and the economic growth of our state.

“Today also marks the 125th anniversary of Utah Statehood, and our contribution to the Union cannot be overstated. Utah represents faith, family, education, opportunity, and boundless ability to serve at home and abroad. Our legacy is still being written and the next chapter is positioned to build upon the past.

“In the coming days the Utah legislature will convene and work to address these challenges and embrace opportunities for our citizens. The Salt Lake Chamber has developed important priorities that we believe, if supported, will move us upward, and we look forward to being with Governor Cox and Lt. Governor Henderson as those priorities are introduced at the Utah Economic Outlook and Public Policy Summit we will be holding with the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, January 12.”
