Today, the United States, Canada, Britain, and the European Union announced coordinated sanctions on China for its genocidal campaign against Uyghur Muslims. Congressman Chris Stewart (R-UT) released the following statement:
“China needs to be punished for their continued human rights violations against Uyghur Muslims. I am encouraged that it is an international effort to confront the atrocities committed by America’s greatest foreign adversary.
“We stand at an important moment: Over the past week, China has not just been testing the Biden Administration’s resolve. They are testing America’s resolve. And America is always stronger when we stand alongside our allies. I support President Biden’s coordinated sanctions against China, and I look forward to working with the administration to combat China’s growing influence.”
