Yesterday, President Biden outlined his $2.3 trillion spending plan. Congressman Chris Stewart (R-UT) released the following statement:
“Congress and the Administration should absolutely prioritize rebuilding our nation’s waning infrastructure. Unfortunately, the plan that President Biden outlined yesterday is not an effective means of achieving that goal. Right now, America has its highest deficit since World War II. Following a $1.9 trillion COVID package with an additional $2.3 trillion in spending ignores our current economic reality.
“Additionally, traditional infrastructure projects such as roads, highways, and bridges only account for $115 billion of President Biden’s $2.3 trillion proposal. The rest funds unrelated, political initiatives that would be far too controversial for Democrats to otherwise pass. We have to break the habit of taxing and spending our way out of problems, and work in a genuinely bipartisan manner to make the type of progress America desperately needs right now.”
