Today, Pure Utah unveiled Utah’s southernmost state-of-the-art medical cannabis pharmacy in Payson, Utah with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house event. The locally flavored pharmacy opened to the public Friday, April 30, 2021.
Jordan Lams, Principal of Pure Utah, told the group gathered for the grand opening, “today represents such an incredible culmination not only of the hard work of the [Pure Utah] team and the regulators, but it’s also the legislators who listened to their constituents – the patients – who advocated for alternatives for their own personal well-being; their shoulders are what we stand on today. Now we can begin to pay them back for their sacrifice.”
With Pure Utah’s opening in Payson, there are now eleven medical cannabis pharmacies operating in the state of Utah, and three pharmacies operating in Utah County. Pure Utah Payson is the southernmost pharmacy to date in the state and is primely set up to serve not only Utah County, but all of Southern and Central Utah.
Desiree Hennessy, Executive Director of the Utah Patients Coalition and a speaker at today’s event, said of the effort it took those advocates to get medical cannabis in Utah, “time makes more converts than reason ever did. I wish I could go back to the Des of 2015 or 2017 and show her where we are today – it’s incredible.”
Utah’s medical cannabis program is built upon medical expertise, according to Rich Oborn with the Utah Department of Health. “Patients will be able to go to this pharmacy in Payson and get educated recommendations for their specific needs by a doctorate-level pharmacist.”
Staffed with twenty local and experienced Utah Medical Cannabis Program operators, Pure Utah Payson is a pharmacy of Utahns, for Utahns.
“Now, we get to start the real work – providing relief for Utahns,” said Jordan Lams. “The humility I feel when I see this come together, knowing the benefit that we are going to provide for people’s lives, cannot be overstated.”
