Vic Hockett named New Talent Ready Utah director

The Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) announced Vic Hockett of St. George as its Talent Ready Utah Center director.

“Hockett will be a great leader of the Talent Ready Utah team,” said Dan Hemmert, GOED’s executive director. “He’s got the perfect skill set and mentality to take Talent Ready Utah to the next level. And in support of Governor Cox’s One Utah vision, Vic will be a remote worker, not located along the Wasatch front.”

As director of Talent Ready Utah, Hockett will oversee the state’s public-private partnerships between industry and education. He will also help support and grow Utah’s workforce in targeted industries statewide.

Hockett has over 17 years of operations and leadership experience in the manufacturing sector and more than eight years of experience in executive-level leadership and instruction in higher education. His previous professional roles include director of operations, quality manager, plant manager, and executive vice president.

Hockett completed his undergraduate degree in industrial technology at Southern Illinois University and has a master’s of administrative leadership from the University of Oklahoma. He and his wife, Darla, have three children and reside in St. George, where they love all things outdoors and home improvement projects. Vic is part Native American, affiliated with the Chickasaw Tribe from Oklahoma.
