Utah Film Commission Calls for Entries: ‘Spot On’ Commercial Contest

The Utah Film Commission wants Utahns to produce and direct its next promotional commercial. This is a great opportunity for local filmmakers to have their work seen by thousands of people, including film industry professionals, during the Sundance Film Festival.

“Utah has world-class locations, talented crew base, and a large talent pool,” says Marshall Moore, director of the Utah Film Commission. “The ‘Spot On’ Commercial Contest is a great way to showcase Utah as the perfect place to shoot your next film, commercial or TV show.”

Contestants can submit a campaign or individual commercials promoting Utah as a great place to make motion pictures. Up to eight 30-second commercials will be chosen to represent the Utah Film Commission during the Sundance Film Festival on local broadcast television. “This is a fantastic  opportunity for local filmmakers to display their creative talents,” says Moore.

The winners will receive $1,500 cash per winning commercial, a Sundance Film Festival package and official Utah Film Commission gear. New for this year, all entrants will automatically be entered into a drawing to win a GoPro Hero 3 camera package.

The contest is free and open to all Utah residents and students attending school in Utah.  Submit an entry form at the Utah Film Commission website, film.utah.gov, All commercial submissions must be turned in by November 29, 2013.  Winners will be announced at the “Spot On” Commercial Contest Awards Show in December.
