Gov. Gary R. Herbert has authorized the lowering of the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the State of Utah to honor the victims of the tragedy in Roseburg, Oregon.
Gov. Herbert issued the following statement:
“I am shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic and senseless act of violence that occurred yesterday. To those mourning in Oregon, the people of Utah mourn with you.”
The flags will be flown at half-staff beginning immediately until sunset Tuesday Oct. 6, 2015. The lowering of the flags will coincide with Sunday’s Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service when flags would normally be lowered.
