Press Release: Doug Owens to Champion Five-Day Workweek for Congress

Fourth Congressional District candidate Doug Owens introduced the second plank of his new Accountability and Ethics Reform Plan designed to strengthen ethical guidelines to hold lawmakers in Washington more accountable to the people they represent.

Owens is proposing a measure that would require Congress to work a minimum five-day workweek. This time must be spent passing legislation, serving on committees, and meeting with constituents—not fundraising.

“Most Utahns work a minimum of five days per week, and those who are chosen to represent them should as well,” Owens said. “Too many politicians in Washington are more concerned about the perks of the job than getting things done for the people they represent.”
