Podcast: Bernick and Schott on politics #329

Bob Bernick and Bryan Schott try to get a handle on all of the news from the last week in Utah politics.

It’s supposed to be an off-year politically, but the news is crazier than ever!

Rep. Jason Chaffetz has announced he’s stepping down from his seat in Congress at the end of June. Lawmakers and Gov. Gary Herbert are fighting over the rules for a special election to replace Chaffetz. Lawmakers are threatening to make a number of changes to Utah election law if Herbert won’t give in to their demands. But, Herbert seems resolute.

A new poll shows most Utahns want all voters to decide the nominees to replace Chaffetz, not just party delegates.

The Utah GOP’s money problems continue.

A poll shows most Utahns disapprove of Donald Trump’s job performance as president, but the numbers haven’t changed from election day 2016.

Plus, we try to get a handle on all of the dizzying news out of Washington in our weekly segment, “Holy crap! Trump did what?”
