Podcast: Messaging the midterms

We talk with Peter Watkins, a veteran of the White House press shop during the Bush administration, about the 2018 midterms.

He discusses what happened in Tuesday’s elections and how campaigns break through the noise of an overcrowded media landscape to get their messages heard. He also talks about the controversy currently engulfing the Trump White House after they pulled CNN reporter Jim Acosta’s press pass.

Watkins was a consultant on Tanner Ainge’s 2017 congressional campaign and teaches political communication at the University of Utah.
