Podcast: Derek Miller on Utah’s ‘trajectory changing’ economy

Salt Lake Chamber President Derek Miller joins Managing Editor Bryan Schott to discuss Utah’s booming economy and how the business community is working to take advantage of the favorable conditions.

Miller says these are “trajectory changing” times for Utah, but we still have a number of challenges ahead, including managing growth, transportation and housing.

Many economists are worried we’re headed for a downturn following the longest period of expansion in the nation’s history, but Miller says Utah’s diverse economy should help us weather any economic turbulence.

Miller also says the inland port project could power Utah’s economic future for decades to come, so it’s important to get the planning for the project, and the surrounding development right.

Plus, we talk about the Chamber’s new initiative to bridge Utah’s gender wage gap.
