Podcast: Political therapy – What you can do when politics invades your holiday celebrations

Holiday Argument 01

Holiday celebrations usually mean gatherings with family and friends…and sometimes heated discussions about politics. How do you have those conversations without damaging relationships?

This week on the UtahPolicy.com podcast, we’re joined by Malissa Morrell, a licensed marriage and family therapist to discuss strategies and tactics to use when politics invades our holiday celebrations. Morrell teaches family therapy at the University of Utah’s school of social work. She also happens to be the wife of Managing Editor Bryan Schott.

Additionally, Morrell is a board-certified art therapist. The website for her private practice is here.

Here’s a link to the “fair fighting rules” Morrell references during our conversation: https://www.therapistaid.com/therapy-worksheet/fair-fighting-rules

If you would like to ask Morrell’s advice about how to handle a difficult political discussion for a future podcast, please email [email protected].
