EDCUtah to Host Influential Corporate Real Estate Group

This Sept. 28-Oct. 2, EDCUtah has the unique opportunity to host the Industrial Asset Management Council’s 2013 Fall Professional Forum in Salt Lake City. The IAMC, a tightly knit group of executives from manufacturing and industrial firms with corporate real estate and other asset management responsibilities, will come to Utah to network, take part in industry-specific workshops and discussion and visit some of the city’s most impressive venues.

Nearly every large manufacturing company in the United States has an asset management department that serves as the real estate arm of the company, and many of those asset managers are IAMC members. They are the decision-makers who offer significant influence over where their companies locate manufacturing operations. We expect the Fall Professional Forum to bring about 400 of these leaders to Utah for five days, and we are thrilled for the opportunity to host them.

IAMC also allows economic developers, site consultants, real estate brokers and law firms to join the forum, bringing a variety of service providers to Utah, where we plan to showcase all of the great reasons why Utah is the best state for business. We have been working with Visit Salt Lake and other organizations to prepare tours and events to capitalize on the exposure from our IAMC friends. We look forward to introducing Beehive State newcomers to our incredible landscape, cultural amenities and business-friendly environment.

EDCUtah has been a member of IAMC since 2003 and a Gold sponsor of IAMC events since 2007. During past forums, we have sponsored afternoon sessions and the exposure has provided EDCUtah with excellent visibility among the corporate real estate executives, suppliers and service providers. It has also led to economic development activities, including the decision by St. Louis-based Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. to build a $40 million manufacturing facility in Tooele. The win created 57 high-paying jobs and was precipitated by a friendship we developed at an IAMC event.

IAMC meets twice yearly and this event marks its first gathering in Utah and only the second in the West. Organizations joining EDCUtah as sponsors of the forum include: Cedar City, Commerce Real Estate Solutions, the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, Jacobsen Construction, Mountain America Credit Union, Penna Powers Brian Haynes, Price Realty Group, Questar, Rio Tinto, Rocky Mountain Power, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, SOS Staffing, Washington County, Wells Fargo Bank, Workers Compensation Fund and Zions Bank.

This is a great opportunity for EDCUtah and the state. We appreciate our sponsoring organizations and will certainly make the best of the opportunity to host the IAMC Fall Professional Forum.
