Pro-Democratic PAC Makes Big Media Buy in Salt Lake City

democrat1A PAC pushing Democratic candidates for Congress signaled their intention to play a big role in Utah’s Congressional elections this fall.

The House Majority PAC announced Monday they had reserved $383,085 worth of airtime in Salt Lake City, for both broadcast and cable.

While they did not specifically target any one race, the media buy is most likely for the contest in Congressional District 4 between Democrat Doug Owens and incumbent Republican Mia Love. Love is seen as one of the most vulnerable Republican candidates this cycle. Love defeated Owens by a little more than 7,000 votes in 2014, yet a recent Salt Lake Tribune poll gave Owens a six-point lead over Love.

In a press release, the PAC touted their intentions to help Democrats win in a number of races thought to be out of reach before Donald Trump secured the GOP nomination.

“House Majority PAC continues to make smart, strategic investments to ensure Democrats are well-positioned to flip as many seats as possible in November,” said House Majority PAC Executive Director Alixandria Lapp. “Our expanding media campaign will maximize the growing number of electoral opportunities for House Democrats this fall as Republicans up and down the ballot are forced to contend with a toxic ticket and toxic party brand.”
