Award-winning journalist and best-selling author Tom Brokaw will be the guest lecturer at the McCarthey Family Foundation Lecture Series: In Praise of Independent Journalism Saturday, October 29, 2016.
The lecture will take place at the Rowland Hall campus, 720 Guardsman Way, in Salt Lake City. The Lecture, which is open to the public at no charge, begins at 7:00 PM; doors open at 6:00 PM. Mr. Brokaw will discuss the role journalism has played during the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign in his remarks “The Voice of a Generation.”
Tom Brokaw, known for his landmark work in American journalism and for the New York Times bestsellers The Greatest Generation and A Lucky Life Interrupted, served as anchor of NBC Nightly News from 1982 to 2004 and is currently a Special Correspondent for NBC News. Brokaw has won every major award in his craft, including the Edward R. Murrow Lifetime Achievement Award, two Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Awards, eleven Emmys, and two Peabody awards. In 2014, President Barack Obama awarded Brokaw with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
