Rep. Chris Stewart is still taking heat for his shocking defense of President Donald Trump’s inaction following revelations that Saudi Arabia was likely behind the murder of a U.S.-based journalist.
Earlier this week, Stewart raised eyebrows when he suggested the killing of journalists is commonplace, saying on CNN “journalists disappear” all the time.
On Thursday night, Colbert skewered Stewart for making his tone-deaf remarks about the apparent murder of a journalist to another journalist.
“You know what that woman you’re talking to does for a living, right?” said Colbert in disbelief. “That’s like saying, ‘Look, you’ve got to crack a few eggs to make an omelet’ to Washington Post reporter Humpty Dumpty.”
