Survey: People Moved Away from Utah in 2013

An annual survey of where people are moving finds Utah was one of the top states people moved away from last year.

United Van Lines tracked the number of inbound and outbound moves last year, and ranked Utah as the #6 state people were moving away from, with 58% of moves going away from the Beehive State.

The study ranks a state as “high inbound” if 55% or more of the moves are going into a state, while “high outbound” means more than 55% of the moves are away.

The top “outbound” states from last year:

  5. Connecticut 
  6. Utah 
  7. Kentucky 
  8. Massachusetts 
  9. New Mexico 

So, where are those people moving to? Here are the top “inbound” states:

  4. District of Columbia
  5. South Dakota
  6. Nevada
