Mia Love: Republicans ‘torpedo their own’ on immigration

On Sunday’s State of the Union with Jake Tapper program, former Utah congresswoman Mia Love said the biggest thing standing in the way of a deal to re-open the government is Republican infighting over immigration.

“Not being able to get immigration reform through was part of the Republican party. We have a really hard time getting a fraction of the party moving in that direction,” said Love. “Sometimes they torpedo their own.”

Love added Republicans in Congress has given their power away by not trying to find a way to end the shutdown, even if President Donald Trump disagrees with their solution.

“I want to see (Senate Majority Leader) Mitch McConnell at the table with (House Minority Leader) Kevin McCarthy, (Senate Minority Leader) Chuck Schumer and (House Speaker) Nancy Pelosi. Maybe, they might get a supermajority out of it,” she said.
