Utah Had the 4th Lowest Unemployment Rate in January

Utah’s economy continues to chug along as the state posted the 4th lowest unemployment rate in the nation in January.

Wall Street 24/7 lists the top-10 states with the lowest unemployment rates.

  2. Nebraska (3.5%)
  3. South Dakota (3.6%)
  4. Utah (3.9%)
  5. Vermont (4.0%)
  6. Wyoming (4.3%)
  7. Iowa (4.3%)
  8. Hawaii (4.6%)
  9. Minnesota (4.7%)
  10. Kansas (4.8%)

Forty-three states and the District of Columbia had unemployment rate decreases from December, one state had an increase and six states had no change at all. Every one of the 50 states and the District of Columbia had unemployment rate decreases from January 2013. For perspective, the national jobless rate for the January was 6.6%.
