Sen. Mitt Romney is one of the first Republicans in Congress to speak out against the growing controversy surrounding whether President Donald Trump pressured Ukraine to investigate a political rival.
Romney tweeted on Sunday that the allegations that Trump pressured Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden and his family was “troubling in the extreme.” Romney also said it was “critical for the facts to come out” in the case.
If the President asked or pressured Ukraine’s president to investigate his political rival, either directly or through his personal attorney, it would be troubling in the extreme. Critical for the facts to come out.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that President Trump pressed Ukranian President Vladimir Zelensky at least eight times to investigate Hunter Biden, who works for a Ukranian natural gas company.
Last week, the Washington Post was the first to report that Trump’s contact with a foreign leader was the subject of a whistleblower complaint that the acting director of national intelligence was withholding from Congress.
President Trump suggested on Sunday that he did discuss Biden’s son with Zelensky according to Bloomberg.
Trump and his lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, have alleged that former vice president Joe Biden pressured Ukranian officials to end an investigation into his son, Hunter Biden.
