Democratic Rep. Ben McAdams is building quite a sizeable war chest for his re-election bid, raising more than any of his potential Republican opponents during the most recent fundraising quarter.
McAdams pulled in more than $500,000 in donations and has more than $1 million in his war chest with more than a year until the 2020 election. About $140,000 of McAdams’ donations came from PACs.
Among the Republicans vying to face off against McAdams next year, State Senator Dan Hemmert has the lead in fundraising. According to a press release, his campaign will report pulling in more than $418,000 in donations since he jumped into the race, but that number will include approximately $175,000 of his own money.
Kathleen Anderson, who was the first Republican to jump into the race, reported $172,000 in donations, which includes a $130,000 loan she made to her campaign. Anderson had a little more than $100,000 on hand at the end of the quarter.
State Rep. Kim Coleman raised $110,000 and spent just over $21,000, leaving her approximately $80,000 on hand.
Former KSL radio host Jay McFarland raised the least of the Republicans hoping to face McAdams next year. He raised $47,000, which includes a little more than $5,000 he loaned to his campaign. McFarland reports $28,000 in cash on hand. However, McFarland’s campaign is currently in the red as his financial disclosures showed more than $32,000 in debts owed to various entities.
Army veteran John Molnar has not filed any paperwork with the Federal Election Commission.
