Sen. Mike Lee caused a stir on Wednesday when he erupted after a closed-door briefing about the attack that killed Iranian Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani.

Lee said on Fox News Thursday he doesn't have a problem with the strike that killed Soleimani. But, he's worried that the Trump administration is not allowing Congress to perform their oversight role.

"It is important that Congress authorize the use of military force when we engage in any kind of sustained military action," said Lee. "We are in a position where we easily could get into a war with Iran, and that's where it's especially important that we have a debate and a discussion."

Lee was furious on Wednesday following the briefing, which he called the worst he had ever seen during his time in Washington. Lee said administration officials would not answer when asked if they believed they would need congressional approval for any further attacks.

President Donald Trump pushed back against Lee on Thursday morning.

"I get along great with Mike Lee," said Trump. "I've never seen him like that. But others have called and they said it was the best presentation they've ever seen."

Trump suggested the refusal to answer questions might reveal classified information about future plans.

Lee says he would support a resolution to curb President Trump's war-making powers because it's in line with the Constitution.

"I support the president. He's been fantastic. He's been deferential to the American people and shown restraint as the command of power. Yesterday they did now show the sale level of deference that they have shown previously," Lee said.
